Bright people, bright idea
Being one member of those uncountable masses who enjoys Joel's writing since ages, I find it very encouraging that his and Jeff's effort they put into building the StackOverflow community earns them not only reputation but also some hard cash.
Well deserved and totally in line with the scope of the originating site.
